But it’s ok. The negotiations have already begun between his choices and mine. I will say, his “calendar options” folder is more filled than mine….but he does have all the images at his fingertips. They’re on his computer!

So you know, the pre-order sale begins today and like last year, you have one month to order at the reduced price.

2016 Our Story Goes On

“Our Story Goes On”…..

It’s a Nauvoo Treasure. Something to look forward to each summer season…..and it is performed twice on the pageant stage this year.

So, here’s the dilemma. What do you do when there are too many awesome images for one blog post? Divide it into 3 posts. That’s what we did the last few years.

This year, there are too many for 3 posts……so, here’s the solution. Lightbox. Yep. It will hold all of the images and you can see them without wearing our your scrolling finger on the mouse.

THEY’RE HERE! Core Cast Returns to Pageant Stage {Bugs Included}

The Nauvoo and British Pageant core cast members are here!! New faces to get to know, old friends to embrace…..and all will the more beloved before summer ends.

We live across the street from the pageant grounds (I know, lucky us!!) and took a stroll this week to check out happenings on stage. We laughed at their antics, sighed as lines from the pageant were spoken, and smiled for an hour or so as we watched rehearsal (mostly for the light crew to get their spots on target).

Most hilarious part of the night? …..Ben and the bugs. Yes, the bugs are back too. But here are a few shots of the group. How many do you recognize?

They’re Back! Signs of Nauvoo Summer Season are Everywhere

It’s that time of year in Nauvoo when excitement and energy fills the air and everything is in motion, full-speed and fast-paced.

Smiling faces are everywhere. We have watched as tents go up, lights are hoisted, and banners are unfurled on the pageant grounds. Horse-drawn wagons are heard clip-clopping down the road from early morning to mid-afternoon.

Families are gathering and old friends are renewing friendships as the work begins—rehearsing, singing, dancing, acting—preparing for weeks of summer shows, vignettes, and activities.

Been to Nauvoo during summer? Then you know what I mean. Never been to Nauvoo? You don’t know what you are missing!

Historic Nauvoo’s Newest {and Cutest} Resident

Some days are perfect photo op days. Like today. A neighbor dropped by with news of Historic Nauvoo’s newest resident laying quietly outside the front door of a missionary apartment. Of course, Tom took off with his camera to capture cuteness.

Deer are plentiful in Nauvoo. The beautiful, long-legged animals are often seen gracefully running across the fields…..without fear. This little fawn didn’t seem to mind Tom crouching down within 2 feet to snap a few shots.

Sweet. Even the animals feel safe in old Nauvoo.

Missionaries Delight Us with a Beautiful Song

Young Performing Missionaries.

Great title to bear for 3 ½ months during summer in Historic Nauvoo…..but that doesn’t really tell you about the character and amazing talent of this select group.

The “YPM’s” as they are affectionately called are a group of young adults who perform, singing and dancing their way into your hearts. They work tirelessly—in full costume—in summer heat—outdoors—all day (minus 2 daily indoor 1-hour shows), 6 days a week. Know what? They never stop smiling. I think that is part of the missionary call they receive.

Just before their last assignment as YPM’s (their fireside), 18 of the 20 dropped by the historic Willard Richards Inn. We gave them a quick tour that included seeing the wine cellar made of stone from the original 1846 Nauvoo Temple.

I knew the acoustics in the cellar were amazing but had no idea how rich and full the sound would be when I asked them to sing a song before leaving. Tom turned on the video camera and this is the sound that melted me to tears.

We just wanted you to hear a little of the incredible spirit they carried all summer……then we will show you the stills from their performances. Watch for those in the next few weeks.
