Santa’s Visit to Nauvoo

Christmas in Beautiful Nauvoo starts on Friday night with the tree lighting and activities down in the flats…….but it continues on Saturday with plenty of other activities for kids and families. One of these is a visit from Santa.

The kids get a chance to tell Santa what they are hoping to get for Christmas and have a photo taken. Since Tom was taking the photos, we were within ear shot to hear the replies to Santa’s questions. Our favorites were the replies to “Have you been nice to your brother?” met with a short silence, shoulder shrug, and wiggling of one hand as she said, “sort of.”

Some of the kids stared. Some cried. Some wavered then finally sat on Santa’s lap but all left happy. We had a blast watching the faces light up. Here a few of them:

Know what else is totally awesome? Carthage has their annual Christmas Open House on Thursday before and LaHarpe, a few miles up the road, has their “Country Christmas” (including a lighted parade) on Tuesday before Christmas in Nauvoo.

The towns around here may be small but they sure know how to celebrate…..
